Birdseye DVD Cabinet - The Doors

I had a chance to start working on the doors this past weekend, and the hardware I ordered from Horton Brasses also came. I still have a good bit to do in making the doors, but with the stock roughly dimensioned, I tried to take a sneak peak on how the pulls I ordered will look.

Arg...something doesn't look right. To close together? .....To big compared to the width of the style? I was afraid of that; should have gotten the size smaller.  Once I have the case totally complete (except for the pulls installed) I'll take another look with them taped on, but right now I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up placing another order for either the size smaller of these ring pulls, and alternative type(s) of pull(s), or perhaps both.

Period Dressing Table - Inspiration for a Future Build

I told my wife, Audrey, the when I finish the cabinet I'm currently working on I'd build her a drssing table to do her makeup at so she can stop doing it at her desk in the office.  I think this will be a good opportunity to take on a legitimate period piece.  I've been looking through googles free ebooks and think I the piece I'd like to make.

Birdseye DVD Cabinet - Picking a Molding - Part 2

Some more time in the shop and I found a molding profile I like.  Still need to fit the miters but, I like how the molding came out.

Also, I hate routers!!!

Birdseye DVD Cabinet - Picking a Molding - Part 1

Trying to decide on a molding for a DVD cabinet I'm working on. This is the first sample profile I've come up with.  Made with a 1/2" round over bit, a 1/2" core box bit, and a hand beading tool.  I don't like it. The bead looks weird with its apex being in line with the apex of the roundover.  Also the groove/quirk between the bead and the round is too wide.  Guess I'll go file down the beading cutter a bit and then its back to the router table.
